Asinan Sauce

Asinan is a salad of fresh vegetables and fruit, which can be bought everywhere on the streets of the Indonesian capital Jakarta and at the little food stalls along the side of the roads. It is a refreshing, spicy, sweet and sour salad with a special peanut sauce. The blend of vegetables and fruit has no fixed ingredients. The dish is composed of whatever is available. Excellent ingredients can be: pineapple, mango, apple, cucumber, bean sprouts, white or pointed cabbage, Chinese cabbage, bell peppers and fried tahoe cubes. Also, lettuce leaves are a great ingredient.

After the various vegetables and fruits are gently mixed together, the asinan sauce is poured over as a dressing. This sauce enriches the sweet and sour taste of the various ingredients of which the salad is composed. Often, asinan is served with emping, crackers of the melinjo seed, crumbled over the sauce. Non-vegetarians also replace the emping with krupuk, prawn crackers.

Ratu Culinair's Asinan Sauce is traditionally prepared based on recipes that have been in the family for over a century. Put the contents of the package in a pan along with boiling water and stir into a delicious sauce. For the ideal thickness of the sauce, we recommend 80 ml of water to 100 grams of the basic mixture. Of course, you can add more or less water to adjust the thickness of the sauce.

Ratu Culinair Asinan Sauce will keep for 12 months, if stored cool and dry in sealed package. The basic mixture can also be stored frozen.
